The Dunedin teams played some quality bowls at the regional zone six tournaments in Timaru and Invercargill over the weekend.

A development and senior women’s tournament was held in Timaru while Invercargill hosted the same grades in the men’s category.

Dunedin played against teams from Southland, Central Otago, South Otago, North Otago and South Canterbury.

Teams consisted of a single, pair and four, in a round-robin format.

The Dunedin women’s development team had a solid win, finishing with 36 points which was three points ahead of second-placed Southland. A win was worth three points.

In the senior women’s grade, Southland won by one point from Dunedin and Central Otago.

At the men’s tournament in Invercargill, the Dunedin men’s team won with 48 points which was well clear of the second-placed Southland team, six points back.

In the men’s development grade, Central Otago won the grade by one point from the Dunedin team.

For their efforts, the Dunedin men’s and women’s sides won their respective overall tournament trophies.

The women won the Collie Trophy, Women’s Pentangular Combine Overall, and the men won the Quadrangular Intercentre Trophy.
