Black Caps battling against Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka were slightly ahead of New Zealand after the first session of the first test in Galle today.

After winning the toss and batting, the tourists made s strong start, putting on an opening stand of 64 before spinner Akila Dananjaya dragged Sri Lanka back into the contest.

Akila snagged Tom Latham and Kane Williamson in the space of four balls, before dismissing Jeet Raval off the last ball of the session to send New Zealand into lunch on 71 for 3.

Latham went for 30, Raval for 33, and skipper Williamson was out for a duck.

 

The visitors have gone for a spin-heavy bowling attack with Mitchell Santner, Will Somerville and Ajaz Patel to join seamers Trent Boult and Tim Southee.
