Breakthrough

England pace bowler Jofra Archer celebrates dismissing Australia’s Jake Weatherald during day 2 of the second Ashes test at The Gabba in Brisbane yesterday.

Weatherald had top-scored for the hosts (at time of press), with 72.

Australia were 228 for three at the end of the second session, trailing by 106 runs.

Earlier Archer, who made 38, had figured in a 70-run 10th-wicket partnership with Joe Root in England’s first innings of 334.

Root was left on 138 not out.
