The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Shoaib Malik as captain in place of the suspended Shahid Afridi for Friday's Twenty20 international against Australia.
The PCB made the announcement on Monday, one day after the ICC banned Afridi for two T20 internationals after being caught ball tampering during the one-day international against Australia at Perth.
Afridi will also miss next month's first of two T20 internationals against England at the United Arab Emirates.
Australia won 3-0 in the test series and 5-0 in the ODI series - Pakistan's first whitewash in a ODI series since losing to West Indies in 1987.
