Cricket: Teams awarded three points from abandoned game

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has confirmed that Canterbury and Wellington will be allocated three points each from the Plunket Shield abandoned as a result of the Christchurch earthquake on February 22.

NZC today said the six major associations and the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association had unanimously agreed to this allocation of points after the round five match was abandoned last week.

This now places Canterbury on 15 points and Wellington on 13, both behind leaders Central Districts on 26 points.
