Otago squad players in action

Otago was not in action yesterday but some of its squad saw play.

Opener Hamish Rutherford posted 44 and swing bowler Christie Viljoen took five for 31 for Otago A during a one-day game against the Bangladesh under-19 World Cup team at the University Oval. The home side won by six wickets.

New Zealand under-19 wicketkeeper Max Chu could manage only 12 with the bat in a five-wicket loss to Pakistan under-19 in Lincoln, while Mark Craig and Michael Rae picked up wickets for a New Zealand XI in a warm-up one-day match against Pakistan in Nelson.

The visiting side won by 120 runs after openers Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman scored centuries in a 206-run stand for the first wicket. Craig took two for 51, while Rae took one for 77 in an expensive stint at the bowling crease.
