The sides were playing one of the semifinals in the top six southern region qualifier for the national First XI Cup.

John McGlashan beat Waitaki Boys' by five wickets. Lucas Reid carried his bat and scored a century to lead the side to victory after Waitaki Boys' had made 213 for seven in its 50 overs.

In the other semi played yesterday, Otago Boys' made 273 for eight wickets with Jack Pryde making 110.

Southland Boys' made 110 in reply with Ben Lockrose taking four wickets.

Otago Boys' will meet John McGlashan College in the final at Tonga Park today.
