Short and sweet for Albion as rain disrupts day

Just one game was possible in Dunedin club competition on Saturday as wet weather intervened.

The match between Albion and University Grange was played, though it did not take long.

The other matches between Kaikorai and North East Valley and Green Island and Taieri did not see the light of day.

In the only match of the day, ball dominated bat at Culling Park.

University Grange batted first but mustered only 64, with the bulk of the runs coming from Andrew Hore who batted through to 34. No other player made double figures.

Sam Wells continued an impressive run of bowling with a five-wicket bag, while he had help from Tommy Clout and Angus McKenzie, who each took a brace.

Albion lost five wickets in getting to the small target but McKenzie hit 32 to get the side home. The Albion side won the game at the end of the 13th over.

The other two games were moved to Bayfield Park but the grounds were not suitable for play.
