Wins to Queenstown Ballarat, Blacks Hill, Albion

Queenstown Ballarat, Blacks Hill and Albion had wins in the penultimate round-robin games in the Vincent senior competition at the weekend.

Batting first at the Events Centre in Queenstown, the home side made 202.

Opener Mike Goldstein top-scored with 62, captain Kevin Loggenberg made 43 and Fraser Wilson added 33 valuable runs.

S Sandhu took four for 41 and Mark Knox picked up three wickets for 39 runs.

Cromwell was never really in the hunt and was knocked over for 126.

Aex Gunson top-scored with 23. Adam Hubber took three for 14 off eight overs, Harry Gadd picked up two for two, Mike Ramsay two for 20 and Swaran Sandhu two for 47.

Albion completed a 10-wicket win over the young Queenstown Wakatipu side after the Queenstown side batted was dismissed for 107.

Lachie Marshall, who made 24, and Om Alva were the best of the batsmen while Marcus Heatherington picked up a five-wicket bag for the cost of just 21 runs. Matt Anderson took three for 16.

Tom Myles top-scored for Albion with 54 not out while Blane Wagner was an able partner, ending on 53 not out to help the team complete a 10 wicket rout.

Blacks Hill and Maniototo played their game on Sunday at Poolburn due to the Central Otago A & P Show taking over the Omakau Showground on Saturday.

Many players from the home side were involved as volunteers OR exhibitors.

Maniototo had first use of the conditions and the home side kept it under pressure to finally dismiss it in 37 overs for 156.

Sam Blakely top-scored with 33 while Steve Pollock added 31.

Tim McCormick took four for 31, Dave Reinds two for eight and Angus Dykes two for 32.

The home side completed a six-wicket victory in 26 overs ending with 159 for four.

Barry White made 70 not out and McCormick completed a good day out with 37 not out.
