Dunedin rider Alysha Keith showed another glimpse of her potential with an impressive ride at the Oceania championships in Adelaide on Saturday.

Keith claimed the silver medal in the elite women's points race behind Australian winner Ashlee Ankudinoff.

She produced her best form over the final four laps, with a sizzling solo break to claim maximum points and get into second position.

It is potentially a sign of bigger things to come for Keith. This is only the start of the summer campaign, but she looks in fine touch.

The national championships in February will provide another opportunity for the young Dunedin woman to impress as BikeNZ begins to prepare for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games in 2016.

The Oceania championships also gave Dunedin rider Katie Schofield a chance to shine.

On the opening night, Schofield partnered London Olympian Natasha Hansen to win the team sprint. The Otago rider then finished second to Olympic medallist Kaarle McCulloch in the 500m time trial.

Southland's Pieter Bulling finished second in his first attempt at the gruelling omnium on Saturday.
