Dunedin Technical will try to avenge last year's painful loss in the Women's National Knockout Cup semifinal tomorrow.
Defending champion Coastal Spirit, which boasts an array of international players, will come up against a very hungry Tech side.
This is the same semifinal match-up as last year and Dunedin Technical assistant coach Andrew Whittaker hopes for a different result.
''We're definitely the underdogs going into the match, but we're an all-round stronger team than last year when we played them,'' Whittaker said.
''We're more experienced, more skilful and more focused.''
In getting to the semifinals, Tech claimed a convincing 6-3 win over Roslyn-Wakari. The club remains unbeaten in the local competition.
As a team, Technical prides itself on its team chemistry, and an ability to put the ball in the back off the net.
''Our scoring ability is a big strength of ours,'' centre-back Holly Smaill said.
''It will be interesting to see how we go against one of the top women's sides in New Zealand. We're all excited by the challenge.''
Tech will need outstanding games from its talented young players, including Shontelle Smith, Hanna English and Chelsea Whittaker, tomorrow, to help secure a win.
''To beat them we will have to be quick on the ball. We will have to play good team football,'' Andrew Whittaker said.
