The University premier side came from behind to beat Mosgiel 7-1 at Memorial Park in the latest round of the women’s football premiership.

Raegan Potter scored early for Mosgiel, and it led for much of the first half, as centre backs Hayley Sim and Grace Apuwai-Bishop combined well to frustrate University.

The students eventually equalised through Jess Marvin, and took the lead just before the break, thanks to an Amy Hislop penalty.

Hislop then showed her class in the second half, the University captain finishing the match with five goals. Fellow Southern United star Lena de Ronde also got on the scoresheet, as University recorded its fifth consecutive victory.

Roslyn-Wakari recorded its second win of the season, beating the University second side on the Logan Park turf.

Renee Bacon and Holly White each bagged a brace, while Emma Black and Jordyn Walker scored one each to lead Roslyn to a convincing 6-1 victory.

Dunedin Technical preserved its perfect record with a 5-1 win over Green Island at Sunnyvale, after leading 3-0 at halftime. Margi Dias scored two for Technical while Shontelle Smith, Nieve Collin, and Chelsea Whittaker scored a goal each. Bee Park scored Green Island’s solitary goal in the second half with a fine first-time strike from near the halfway line, while goalkeeper Tessa Nicol was impressive.

Technical and University top the table after six rounds on 15 points, although Technical has a superior goal difference and a game in hand.
