Top of the south v mountain men

It will be the top of the south against the men from the mountains in the next round of the Chatham Cup.

After it defeated Dunedin Technical last Saturday, Queenstown Rovers gets the honour of hosting a match, and will line up against Nelson Suburbs on July 15.

This is the fourth round of the cup and the last round before the competition goes to a national format.

Queenstown Rovers had improved this season and is particularly strong at home so should be in with a good chance at home.

Build-up will be hampered with the side forced to move training facilities with the British and Irish Lions in town next week and using the grounds at the Events Centre.

Over the past couple of weeks, training has been shifted to a back ground but it did not appear to impact the team who have been performing well.

The other match involving a southern team has Caversham heading up the road to take on Cashmere Technical in Christchurch.

Caversham has not lost a game this season but will find a willing opponent in Cashmere Technical, which sits top of the table in the Mainland League.

In the women’s Knockout Cup, Dunedin Technical is the only remaining side from the south in the competition and has the tough task of hosting the Coastal Spirit, which  sits top of the Mainland women’s league.
