The donation was 10% of the prize money from the tournament held at Chisholm Links in February.
The tournament’s 15 qualifying events are held in rural areas and Evans said it made sense to give to Farmstrong — a charity which assists farmers who have had some form of disaster or hardship. The tournament was almost certain to return next year.
All the major sponsors were on board and all the players indicated they would like to return.
Evans said it was hoped the number of professionals would rise from 40 to 75, while the prize money could be anywhere between $50,000 and $70,000.
