Inia Logan has been rewarded for his performance in North Otago over the weekend with the top ranking in the Otago side to take on Southland this weekend.

Logan won the North Otago matchplay over the weekend, triumphing in the second hole of a playoff against Jonny MacKay who was stray in the fairway.

MacKay has found himself in blue and gold colours after a quick switch of allegiance from Timaru yesterday.

He was brought up in North Otago and played for Aorangi but has now moved to Otago and is a member of the Cromwell Golf Club.

The side will be captained by the experienced Branson Hodgson and there is an element of youth in the ranks.

Taieri Lakes youngster Hayden Robertson will make his debut for Otago. The 17-year-old has been impressive of
late.

Left-hander Ben Patston also makes the squad. Duncan Croudis was not available for this weekend.

The match will be played at the Otatara Golf Club in Invercargill. Foursomes will be played on Saturday followed by singles and reverse singles on Sunday.

Otago has not lost to Southland in this contest since 1990.
