Sport Otago, in association with Mitre 10 Mega Dunedin and Mosgiel and Workplace First Aid Training, will distribute 100 free first aid kits to sporting clubs around Otago.

The kits have all the equipment needed for first aid and also a card outlining the issues around concussion.

The kits will be given to all clubs of all the major summer sports this summer.

The Dunedin Technical football club will also  receive an automated external defibrillator, as part of a roll-out of the units by New Zealand Football.

NZF is giving 60 Smart Start AED units to clubs over the next three years, to help them in emergencies.

National league club Southern United has also been provided with an AED.
