The men's premier game was physical from the start, with Kings playing fast hockey to try to catch Albany off guard.
Both sides spread the ball early and missed a couple of opportunities before Albany forward Callum Bailey opened the scoring with a well-executed shot.
The sides continued to battle away, before a breakout by Albany led to its second goal, to forward Jeremy Morris.
Kings never gave up and still defended stoutly, managing to save a couple of well-executed plays that looked destined to be goals.
Albany then struck again, this time through drag flick specialist Kane Russell, who scored a double.
Again Albany was awarded a penalty corner after a constant phase of attack, which resulted in Russell notching up his second goal.
Albany looked certain to go into halftime with its goal intact but a well-executed penalty corner by Kings was finished off by captain Morgan McLean, who finally got his side on the score sheet.
Up 4-1 at the start of the second half, Albany continued its form and despite some great defence from Kings, Nick Elder notched up another point.
Kings still attacked, firing shots, and was finally rewarded when McLean scored his second, thanks to some scrappy goal-line play.
But Albany regained its composure and managed to strike back soon after, with Callum Bailey and Jason Dungey both scoring to blow the final margin out to five goals.
Russell was superb for Albany, along with Andrew Matthews and Nick Elder, while Heath Dickson, Blair Tarrant and McLean were the best on display for the losing Kings side.
Meanwhile, it was the battle of the university sides in the second game, with the University Black and Blue teams drawing 2-2.
