Thunder has chance to record milestone

The Dunedin Thunder might be out of contention but the team still has something important to play for in the weekend.

It has back-to-back games against the West Auckland Admirals in Auckland.

The Admirals have already booked a place in the final and will play the Queenstown-based Southern Stampede in a best-of-three final series next month when the regulation season is complete.

The Thunder’s prospects ended sometime ago but a victory against the Admirals would mean the Thunder has managed to register a win against all the other four sides in the league.

With head coach Matt Hladun on holiday, injured player Regan Wilson and Graeme Darling will coach the side.

The other piece of news is that the matches between the Thunder and the Canterbury Red Devils, which were postponed last weekend because flooding prevented the Devils travelling, have been rescheduled for August  12-13.

The Stampede has a bye this weekend but will complete the regulation season with two games against the Devils  in Christchurch next weekend.
