Rising cult attraction Charlie Gubb wants out of his Warriors contract, according to an Australian report.

New coach Steve Kearney is facing a battle to keep a couple of his top young forwards, with Fox Sports reporting that Gubb wants a release while the ambitious Gold Coast Titans are targeting Albert Vete.

In a report detailing the comings and goings for the 2017 season, Fox says Titans coach Neil Henry is after the 23-year-old Vete, who comes off contract next year.

"The Warriors would need to permit the [Vete] move but have already blocked an attempt to leave by cult hero Charlie Gubb who has caught the attention of several clubs," the story claimed.

"Gubb is on a basic deal with the club who held the option on his contract for 2017 which was activated earlier this year. But with his management pushing for a release, he could very well find a new home before a ball is kicked next season."

Champions Cronulla are believed to be among the clubs chasing the 26-year-old Gubb, the curly headed forward who is a fan favourite at Mt Smart Stadium.
