Palmerston rider Courtney Duncan has won the first race of the final Women’s Motocross Championship event for the season.

The 20-year-old was 35sec ahead of her closest rival in the Netherlands, blitzing four-time champion Kiara Fontanesi, of Italy.

French rider and 2008 champion Livia Lancelot finished in fourth place but continues to lead the overall championship standings.

Duncan is in sixth position overall but her championship prospects ended when she collided with an errant photographer in Germany.
