They are a rare breed in this year’s Otago Rally, but Jake Luckin (left) and Adrian Jones are flying the overseas flag.

The two men, with Jones doing the driving, are originally from England and will be racing under the United Kingdom flag.

Both men have lived in Queenstown for many years and jumped at the chance to compete in the event.

It was the first Otago Rally for the two men, and they were driving a Toyota Corolla FXGT.

The rally, which has a record entry list of more than 110 vehicles, had a ceremonial start last night in the Octagon.

The event begins this morning, with the first stage starting in Burma Rd, in South Otago, at 8.30am.

It finishes tomorrow about 3pm at Brighton.

The event did not take place last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
