Final repeat of last year

It will be a repeat of last year when Phys Ed A and Southern Magpies meet in the premier A grade final tonight.

The teams have come out on top of the 13-week competition and will go head to head at the Edgar Centre.

They were the two top teams in the competition in 2015 when Southern was the victor for the fourth year in a row.

Tonight's final will mark the fourth time the teams have met this season - Phys Ed took two wins in earlier rounds and Southern came out on top two weeks ago.

Southern has had a mixed season after it lost five games throughout all three rounds and finished fourth at the end of round two.

However, with its national league players now fully available and Southern Steel players Te Paea Selby-Rickit and Gina Crampton free from ANZ Championship duties, Southern is at full strength.

It has shown, having had three convincing wins in round three and moving to the top of the leader board to secure a place in the final.

Defender Tarryn Dickson has had a strong season and will be one to watch.

Phys Ed was unbeaten in the first round of competition and has lost only two games this season in the lead-up to the final.

It has been one of the most consistent teams throughout all three rounds of the competition and produced solid, full-team performances each week.

Abby Erwood made a welcome return to Phys Ed after her season with the Southern Steel and was impressive on defence last time Phys Ed and Southern met.

Shooter Sophie Johns has been reliable under the hoop and instrumental in leading Phys Ed to the final this year.
