Southern has won the premier grade competition five times in the past 10 years, including in 2012 and 2013, and the Magpies field several players who are familiar with finals netball.
College has not made the premier final in a decade but is not to be underestimated.
The team features some talented players, five of whom were named in the Dunedin side to compete at the national championships.
Southern has had another solid season, but suffered its first loss in three years early in the competition, giving other teams a sniff of victory.
In contrast, College was subdued in the early stages but has stamped its mark in recent rounds and seems to be peaking at exactly the right time.
The teams last met two weeks ago, when College won 61-55.
Steel player Te Paea Selby-Rickit will lead the Southern shooting end, fed by Mianna Walden and Gina Crampton.
Crampton will be influential in the midcourt for Southern with her speed and vision, and it is likely Steel team-mate Stacey Peeters will be handed the task of trying to shut her down.
College goal attack Olivia Bates plays a huge role in the circle, drawing defenders and feeding the ball into goal shoot Jamie Hume, and the Southern defence will be looking to take her out of the game.
College coach Lauren Piebenga said preparations had been going ''really well''. Her team was aware of Southern's strengths but was focusing on its own game.
''We'll just be focusing on executing what we do well and making sure we treasure our own possession.''
Southern coach Georgie Salter said her players were ready for the final and were focusing on connecting with each other.
''The girls are in a determined mind-set.''
Salter said it was great the competition was more even this year, and that College had worked hard and come up to the mark.
''They are in form, and we want to be in form.''
