Physed B got their first win of the season in round 3 of the premier club competition.

They defeated Southern Magpies 42-41 in a thrilling defensive game and the closest scoreline so far this season.

The game was consistently close, with the score being within one goal at all the quarter breaks except the first, when Physed B held an early 13-11 lead.

Southern won the next two quarters, and led at the third quarter break, but just fell short in the last quarter.

Both goal keeps Izzy Henderson (Physed B) and Ana Taka (Southern Magpies) had outstanding games and earned lots of valuable ball for their teams.

Despite the defensive efforts from Southern, it was a tough job to stop Physed B goal shoot Lucy McLellan.

She shot at 93% and 100% accuracy in the second half when her team needed it the most.

McLellan shot 28 of Physed B’s 42 goals and was very happy with the game.

"It was a great game, very even between both teams. We’ll take lots of good things and work-ons from it into training before next week’s game," McLellan said.

Physed B will now face defending champions Uni Albion A this weekend.

Uni Albion A and College A remain unbeaten after both teams had convincing wins against both secondary school teams.

College A put out a huge second half to extend their lead over Columba A, scoring over 20 goals in both the final quarters to win 74-43.

Uni Albion A had a convincing 51-24 win against St Hildas A.

Physed A’s game against Uni Albion B resulted in another big scoreline, Physed A winning 67-46.

But the score only blew out in the second half.

Physed A were only up by four at the end of the first quarter and three at halftime.

But they came out of the break firing to win the third quarter 21-7 to set them up for the rest of the game.
