Netball South has named Georgie Salter as its new Beko League coach for 2017.

The Oamaru coach was enticed out of retirement by niece Reinga Bloxham, the Southern Steel's new head coach. She would aim to support her in developing the regions most promising talent.

Having coached the Otago Rebels to a national title in 1998 and helped Otago to its first NPC championship in 66 years, Salter comes with an impressive CV. As a player she represented Eastern Southland and went on to play for the Silver Ferns.

She would look to guide South to a second-consecutive Beko Leauge title, as won last year's championship under new Steel assistant coach Lauren Piebenga.

The Beko League was established early this year as a development pathway for promising players on their way to franchise level.
