South zone surplus

Netball South has achieved a positive financial return for 2018.

The organisation announced a $20,000 surplus at yesterday's annual meeting.

It was the third consecutive year the zone has posted a surplus.

That eats into an historic deficit built up in its first three years of operation.

Board chairman Paul Buckner said continuing those positive results was key.

"The financial challenges sporting organisations face are well documented, so this positive result is a credit to all involved,'' ha said.

"Carrying that negative equity into 2019 continues to place pressure on cash flow.

"But if we can stay the course of consistently achieving a surplus in the coming years, that should ease.''

Netball South chief executive Lana Winders said increased sponsorship revenue and the hosting the Sunshine Coast Lightning had been key contributors to the surplus.
