Steel claims another big win

The Southern Steel has continued its strong form in Auckland tonight.

At the ANZ Premiership's third Super Sunday of the season, the side beat the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 75-58.

After a close start, the Steel exerted its dominance through the middle of the second quarter.

That saw it extend an 18-15 lead out to 38-31 at halftime, the defence proving disruptive and the attack tough to stop.

It continued through the start of the third quarter and led by 14 at one point, although the Magic pulled back late in the quarter.

That left things at 55-45 and that margin became eight after the Magic started the fourth quarter strongly.

However, the Steel pulled away once more, again turning ball over and then getting it to its shooters with ease.

The win, coupled with the Central Pulse's loss to the Mainland Tactix, leaves the Steel with a chance of hosting the final.
