Steel claims win over Stars

The Southern Steel has claimed a second win over the Northern Stars in as many games.

It beat the Auckland side 63-60 in Christchurch on the ANZ Premiership's second Super Sunday of the season.

The result came a week after the two side's met in another tight encounter which saw the Steel emerge 63-61 victors.

The scores were tied at 18-18 at the end of the first quarter, before the Steel put its foot down late in the second quarter and throughout the third.

It led 50-45 heading into the final quarter and after withstanding an initial comeback from the Stars, it maintained its lead at five for most of the quarter.

The Stars did not go away, though, fighting back late.

However, the Steel remained composed and closed out the game to notch its fifth with of the season.

The Steel plays again tomorrow against the Mainland Tactix.
