Steel looking for assistant coach

The Southern Steel is on the hunt for an assistant coach.

Having last week appointed 2016 assistant Reinga Bloxham as head coach, the franchise has opened applications for the vacant position. They close on October 17.

It could be a chance to inject some new blood into the team, with nine players also being retained from this year's squad.

That consistency is something the Steel is open about trying to achieve. Coming off a successful season, the team is looking to build on the culture developed over the past few years by Noeline Taurua and Janine Southby.

The successful candidate will need to buy into that culture and be an effective communicator. The team is looking for someone that either has, or is working towards, a Netball New Zealand Performance Coach, or equivalent, qualification.

The assistant coach will be responsible not just for the Steel, but for helping develop players and coaches around Otago and Southland.
