A spread among the teams has emerged early in the ANZ Premiership.

One month into the competition, the Southern Steel and Central Pulse have predictably jumped out to impressive starts.

The Steel leads the way on 13 points, although it is only one ahead of the unbeaten Pulse, which has played one fewer game.

That dominance has come at opposite ends of the court for each side.

While the Steel has topped 65 goals in each of its wins, the Pulse has conceded more than 40 goals just once.

The Northern Stars trail in third on nine points and look the most likely to join the top two
in the playoffs.

After upsetting the Steel in round one they slipped up against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and Pulse.

The Magic have moved to six points after beating the Northern Mystics last week.

The Mainland Tactix have battled injury and remain on one win, while the Northern Mystics are yet to pick up a point.
