Steel to start 2019 with three in a week

The Southern Steel will play three games in a week to open its ANZ Premiership campaign next year.

It will play the Northern Stars in the first game of
the season - which starts with a Super Sunday on February 24.

A rare Tuesday game follows, against the Mainland Tactix in Christchurch, before an equally rare Saturday game against the Northern Mystics in Auckland.

Monday March 11 marks its first home game, against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, although it is yet to be confirmed whether that will be in Dunedin or Invercargill.

It will play two other
games in Dunedin, both Wednesday nights, against the Central Pulse and Northern Mystics on April 10 and 24 respectively.

The remainder of its home games will be in Invercargill, the most notable being the Super Sunday weekend on May 5.

There it will play the Mystics in the 4.10pm game, before backing up against the Pulse the next night.

It concludes the round robin on May 22 against the Stars.

The elimination final is to be held on May 29, with the final scheduled for June 2.

It is an early season due to the World Cup being held in Liverpool from July 12-21.
