Two of the most dominant figures in the Steel's recent history will face off in the grand final in Australia.

After the last semifinal played at the weekend, the Sunshine Coast Lightning will head to Perth to take on the West Coast Fever on Sunday.

The Lightning side, which won the Australian championship last season, is coached by former Steel coach Noeline Taurua.

It has been a big climb for the Lightning, which qualified fourth and has won two games away from home to reach the final. It beat the NSW Giants 59-50 on Sunday to clinch the playoff spot.

Taurua is set to be named Silver Ferns coach after the Lightning plays the final.

The Fever qualified for the finals with a win over the Giants in the major semifinal two weeks ago and its star is former Steel shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid.

After five years with the Steel, Fowler-Reid joined the Fever for this season.

The 1.98m Jamaican international has been utterly dominant figure for the Fever, scoring 48 goals from as many attempts in the win over the Giants.
