Wanaka multisport athlete Braden Currie is the Challenge Wanaka champion for 2019.

Currie edged Andrew Starykowicz and Matt Burton to take the honours in the main event of the triathlon festival today.

Hannah Wells won the women's event from Meredtih Kessler (2nd) and Laura Siddall. 

The challenge comprises a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run.
