Invercargill trap shooter Shannon Evans showed the steadiest hand and the most accurate eye at the Otago Provincial Clay Target Shooting Championships in Wanaka at the weekend.

Evans was crowned the event's high gun winner for having the best score over seven individual events.

He also won the skeet title and was part of the Southland side that won the teams event, as he racked up a score of 231 from a possible 235 points.

Canterbury shooters dominated the remainder of the events over the weekend, with Ray Everett winning the triples title, Matthew Lovett winning the single rise event and Craig Pilcher taking the double rise and single barrel titles.

Waikato shooter Toby Nicholl won both the minis and point score events.
