OGHS out of volleyball

Otago Girls' High School's quest for a national volleyball title has come to an end.

It was beaten by Rangitoto College in a quarterfinal of the top division in Palmerston North yesterday.

Rangitoto took the match three sets to nil winning the first two 25-19, before claiming the win with a 25-17 third set.

Otago Boys' High School also lost its quarterfinal in division two of the boys section.

It was beaten three sets to nil by Spotswood College.

Racing in the national Maadi Cup rowing at Lake Ruataniwha was delayed because of poor conditions.

Rain also disrupted King's High School's match against St Andrew's College at the national junior secondary schools cricket championships.

The game was reduced to 30 overs a side but King's still managed to prevail by 43 runs.

King's made 144 for eight then dismissed its Christchurch opponent for 101 in 26.2 overs.
