Squash: NZ lose playoff for ninth

New Zealand lived up to their ranking to finish 10th at the world squash men's teams championships in Denmark today.

The 10th seeded New Zealanders lost the playoff for ninth place 0-2 to fifth seeds Malaysia.

Kashif Shuja made a promising start against Malaysian No 1 Mohd Azlan Iskander to win first game 11-9 but it was all down hill for Shuja from there as Iskander ran out a 9-11 11-4 11-9 11-6 winner.

New Zealand No 3 Martin Knight was then unable to keep his side in the best of three-match tie as he went down 9-11 9-11 10-12 to Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan.

Meanwhile, top seeds Egypt were been crowned champions after beating France 2-1 in the final. Australia finished third after a 2-1 win over England.

Results:- Final: Egypt 2 France 1.

Playoff for third: Australia 2 England 1.

Playoff for ninth: Malaysia 2 New Zealand 0 (Mohd Azlan Iskander bt Kashif Shuja 9-11 11-4 11-9 11-6, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan bt Martin Knight 11-9 11-9 12-10.
