Top Australians for NZ swim event

Swimming New Zealand has attracted four world-class Australians including double Olympic champion Emily Seebohm to headline a national meet in Auckland.

The Transtasman swimmers will compete at the New Zealand Zonal Championships in Auckland next month, comprising four teams of 40 senior and juniors.

Seebohm, who has also won four world championship titles, is joined by Minna Atherton, Nicholas Brown and Grayson Bell, who are among the more talented young Australian swimmers.

Seebohm has been drafted into the Aquaknights, comprising swimmers from Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay.

The other teams are the Harlequins (Northland, Auckland and Counties Manukau) the All Stars (Wellington and Manawatu) and the Makos (South Island).

Swimming NZ events and membership manager Kent Stead says the Australians will add some glamour to the rapid-fire meet, which is based around a relay and team format.
