Rangiora galloper Bluey's Chance helped continue trainer Kenny Moore excellent run of form when winning at Wingatui yesterday.

The 6yr-old made it two wins from two starts in his campaign with a front-running win in race 1 for rider Rahul Beeharry.

Placegetters Miss Brahmos and Our Teddy Boy went to Bluey's Chance's flank halfway down the straight but he kicked strongly and ran away to win the 1400m rating 92 race by two lengths.

That strength and the galloper's excellent resuming form have come after Moore changed Bluey's Chance's training regime.

"We are training him a lot differently with a lot of long, strong and slow work to slowly build him into it," Moore said.

"He is not the most sound horse, so we have handled him with kid gloves.

"He is doing a little bit less galloping than he used to do - and it is really making a difference."

Bluey's Chance helped continue a brilliant run of form for Moore, which started before the start of the new season.

He and Wynmore won for the trainer at Timaru late last month and Pure Chance notched a premier win at the Grand National carnival earlier this month.

Bluey's Chance is not just a winter mudlark - he won his maiden on a good track.

Moore will continue campaign the horse with hope he could graduate to better races over summer.

"He has got good form on top of the ground and he is very durable. A lot of the Reminds are - he leaves some tough horses," the trainer said.

"He will be a horse for the country cups, especially the 1600m and 2000m ones.

"The Waimate Cup and Geraldine Cup; those type of races will suit him."

Bluey's Chance is raced by namesake Kyle "Blue" Campbell and harness racing trainer Dave Mitchell.

More owners are set to be brought into the horse's official ownership soon, Moore said.

Bluey's Chance filled the first leg of a winning double for Rahul Beeharry, who also rode Regent Street to win race 4 for trainer Amanda Schwartz.

Patience paid off for septuagenarian owner-breeder Frank Conway when Raise You Five won race 5.

The five-time placegetter finally cracked her duck when running away from his rivals to win the 1600m maiden by 3½ lengths for trainers Brian and Shane Anderton.

Rider Jacob Lowry gave Raise You Five an economical run before launching him for his winning run on the home turn.

"They went quite quick up front which was good and set it up for him," Shane Anderton said in his-post race interview.

"He was travelling quite good on the corner. It was a good result."

Raise You Five is a descendant of Conway's 18-race winner and group 1 performer Mayo Gold.
