Racing: Walker remains in intensive care

Top jockey Michael Walker remained in intensive care in Auckland City Hospital tonight with serious head injuries.

Walker suffered the injuries on May 24 when falling down a bluff in north Taranaki while pig hunting.

A hospital spokesman tonight said Walker's condition was stable.

Walker (24) is reported to have fallen down the bluff while carrying a slaughtered pig on his back.

He was in line to become New Zealand's first jockey to ride 200 winners in a season.

His tally for the season stands at 173 and is well clear of his nearest rival, Lisa Cropp on 104 wins.
