Bond, Murray to speak at foundation dinner

Olympic champions Hamish Bond and Eric Murray will be the speakers at next year’s Otago Medical Research Foundation annual black-tie dinner in February.

Bond and Murray have been taking some time off from their rowing after their gold medal at the Rio Olympics in August.

The duo have stitched together an unbeaten campaign since starting out in 2009.

Over that period they have won 69 races in a row, winning two Olympic gold medals, six world championships and 16 world cup titles.

During the dinner  they will be part of a question-and-answer session  taken by master of ceremonies Steve Davie.

Also appearing will be Australian speaker Mick Collis.

Davie, who is the  foundation’s director of development, is also working on securing a special surprise guest.

It  was great to gain the world champion rowers as guests, he said.

The event, set for February 17,  sold out in March.

All funds raised  are to go towards the  foundation’s  goal  of establishing world-class medical research at a catalyst, conceptual level in Dunedin.
