New Zealand struck gold twice at the world under-23 rowing championships in Germany when Joseph Sullivan retained his heavyweight single sculls title and Graham Oberlin-Brown won the lightweight sculls.
In winning his first world title, Oberlin-Brown last night picked up where Storm Uru left off last year in the lightweight single scull.
In the final on the Brandenburg course, Oberlin-Brown shot off to a 2.5 seconds lead at the first 500 metres.
The Te Awamutu rower extended this to a huge eight seconds at the finish.
Second was Iran's Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh, who won his country's first international rowing medal.
Sullivan retained his title in style. Like Oberlin-Brown, he raced to an early lead and was almost three seconds up by half way.
He kept the hammer down to storm home in 6min 52.18sec.
There were fifth places for the men's four and women's quadruple scull in the A finals as well, though the men's eight were unable to start the B final due to illness.
The women's four won their B final, finishing with an overall ranking of seventh.
