Otago Daily Times rugby writer Steve Hepburn gives his thoughts on the test.
Star All Black
After throwing an intercept pass, Carter more than made up for it by creating the first try and then the last. Constantly looked threatening and also got through his fair share of defence.
Scotland is inept at scoring tries against the All Blacks, so for the flying Visser to get two in one game is surely enough for keys to the city of Edinburgh. Looked good in the opportunities he got, although they were few of them.
The new Highlanders captain put in a solid hour, getting around the field and showing strength in contact. Scored a nice try in the first half, bumping off a tackle and ploughing over. Midfield combination Tamati Ellison and Ben Smith made plenty of ground and Smith scored a nice try at the end. Former favourite Adam Thomson blotted his copybook with a yellow card, and may cop a suspension for a stomp.
All Black grade
Any time you score 50 points in a test, you have to be happy. The All Blacks are far and away the best side in international rugby at creating and converting opportunities. Bit sloppy on defence, though, and did not have much ball to play with.
