Otago has made one change to its side which takes on Wellington in a Plunket Shield match in the capital tomorrow.

Speedster Warren Barnes, back from a spell of bowling in club cricket in Sydney, comes into the side for skipper Mark Craig.

Craig misses the match for personal reasons after his grandmother died late last week. The captaincy will be taken over by pace bowler Jacob Duffy.

Coach Rob Walter said Duffy was an experienced player who has a good amount of cricket behind him and was comfortable in leading the side.

Duffy (24) has played for Otago since first making his debut for the side in 2011, when he was still at Southland Boys' High School. He is a mature player and Walter said there was plenty of experience around him in the form of Hamish Rutherford and Brad Wilson, both former skippers of the side.

Otago had an encouraging performance against Northern Districts in the opening match of the season but ended up losing by eight wickets.

Wellington drew against Auckland at the Basin Reserve after the weather affected play.
