Highlanders high performance coach Cory Brown will be coaching schoolboys next month.

Brown, the former Otago coach, has been named the coach of the Barbarians schools team. He will assisted by Mark Hooper, of Kelston Boys' High School.

Crusaders assistant coach Brad Mooar, along with Sam Moore, of New Plymouth Boys' High School, will coach the New Zealand schools side.

A 53-strong squad of school players was named yesterday to attend a camp next weekend in Palmerston North.

Only two players were picked from the southern region - Otago Boys' High School halfback James Arscott and Southland Boys' High School flanker Jacob Payne.

The squad also includes Niko Jones, the son of All Black Michael Jones. Niko Jones captained St Peter's College to the Top Four title in Palmerston North on Sunday.

The New Zealand schools team and the Barbarians schools team will be announced on September 23.

They are set to play games against Australia later next month.
