15. Cole Spinks (Star). Sparked countless attacking raids for the champions. Set up and scored tries most weekends.
14. Hughan Sharp (Star). Has the skill set to flourish on his own account, but on the end of a classy backline this year, he was able to rack up the tries.
13. Johnny Vaili (Star). Came to Southland with big raps and a decent record having represented Samoa. His raw athleticism proved a handful for defenders.
12. Jaye Thompson (Pirates Old Boys). The best player to watch in Southland just glided through the gaps. Has the talent and ball skills to play anywhere in the backline.
11. Ritchie Kuresa (Star). Explosive power on attack and defence. Changed the game’s momentum at key moments in the Galbraith Shield final.
10. Greg Dyer (Pirates Old Boys). When fellow playmaker Kaea Nikora-Balloch was injured, Dyer excelled this year with the extra workload.
9. Connor Collins (EN Barbarians). With Liam Howley and Josh Murrell out injured for most of the season, the competition lacked a quality halfback, until Collins arrived down south.
8. Semisi Tupou-Taeiloa (Star). His huge appetite for work was exemplified in the final. Rampaging ball-carrier and punishing defender.
7. Jackson Bevin (Marist). Each week this youngster was the top contributor for Marist. Has the weaponry to play all three loose forward positions.
6. Jordan Stewart (Star). Another punishing brute from the Star trio. The captain deserved to hold the Galbraith Shield aloft for the second time in his 100-game career with Star.
5. Josh Bekhuis (Stars). Steadied the ship when required for Star. Had the set piece running smoothly on the field.
4. Woody Kirkwood (EN Barbarians). Stepped up another level. Did the hard work off the field and was one of the best each week.
3. Morgan Mitchell (EN Barbarians). Put his best effort into the Barbarians each week.
2. Jayden Henderson (Star). Hard-working and dynamic player with enough bulk and attitude to mix it with anyone.
1. Jack Sexton (Star). Good all-round performer each week.
