Otago metro under-18 centre Giovanni Leituala is tackled by Southland under-18 hooker Morgan Riordan (left) and openside flanker Sean Withy at the University Oval on Saturday.

Otago won the match 31-16, scoring two tries in the final six minutes.

Meanwhile, in the under-16 match, Otago beat Southland 23-19, a penalty try in the dying stages getting Otago over the line.

In the under-14 match, Otago was too good for Southland, 52-15, while Otago also claimed wins in the under-13 and under-48kg matches, 24-17 and 38-5.

All matches were played in Dunedin.
