Ben Nowell and Harvard Fale played starring roles as Kurow returned to its best form with a 60-21 win over Athletic Marist in North Otago premier club rugby today.

The pair both scored a brace of tries and dictated play as Kurow rebounded from its limp effort against Old Boys the previous week.

In today's other game, Excelsior put up a decent fight but could not not prevent a fourth straight loss, Valley claiming a 27-23 win.

The round opened with Old Boys thumping home side Maheno 56-12 under lights last night.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
