Top players at Limehills

All roads will lead to Limehills tomorrow as top Southland players converge on the central Southland plains.

The four Southland Country sub-union sides will play two 40- minute games each, and then the Southland Stags will play a Pacifica Invitational team at 3pm.

Both fields will be in use at Limehills when Central play Western and Northern play Eastern at 1pm. Then the winners and losers of those games will play each other.

Eastern has been the strongest of the country sub-unions in recent history. The Eastern Northern Barbarians team had only one player make the Southland Stags this season.

Northern co-coach Todd Cavanagh is predicting a successful day for all involved

"It was bloody good footy last year; all our players enjoyed it," he said.

Central co-coach Dayna Cunningham made sure his Midlands players were available for Central selection and felt many of his players warranted selection in the country team.

All sub-union teams will be without their youngsters as the Southland under-19 side is playing a North Otago team in Dunedin tomorrow.

A Southland Country team will be selected to play Southland Town at the Gore Showgrounds next Saturday.
