Team to travel today

The Highlanders will be forced to travel to Christchurch this morning after the wet weather scuttled plans to leave yesterday afternoon.

Sanzaar rules stipulate teams must travel to the match venue the day before the game but the flight on which most of the team was booked to travel to Christchurch from Dunedin was cancelled yesterday due to wind at Dunedin Airport.

The scheduled flight at 5.30pm was cancelled mid-afternoon and hopes of catching later flights yesterday were quickly dashed, due to the wind and flights being heavily booked.

The team is scheduled to get on flights this morning if the airport is open.

Any idea of bussing to Christchurch yesterday afternoon was also quickly scratched, as State Highway 1 was closed because of flooding.
