Otago Boys’ High School remains unbeaten after the second round of the Otago premier schools competition.

It edged King’s High School 22-15 at King’s on Saturday, its second win over its cross-town rival this year.

The win keeps Otago Boys’ at the top of the table on 18 points, while King’s falls to third.

Southland Boys’ High School claimed a significant 29-10 win over John McGlashan College in Invercargill.

The win elevates Southland Boys’ to 15 points, leaving McGlashan on the edge of the top four with 10 points and one week of round-robin competition to play.

McGlashan would be a very strong bet to make the semifinals, however, even with a match against Otago Boys’ to come next week.

South Otago High School pulled to five points behind McGlashan with a 31-28 win over Mount Aspiring College.

However, South Otago would need to beat King’s next week to have a chance of drawing level with McGlashan on the table.

In the Championship division, St Kevin’s College claimed a 46-33 win over Wakatipu High School, Waitaki Boys’ High School beat the Otago Combined Co-ed XV 38-12, and Dunstan High School beat the Otago Boys’ High School Second XV 38-19.
